I've spent forty years reading every piece of text that crossed my field of vision. Cereal boxes to road signs. Now I'm trying to deal with the sheer screen clutter of a new operating system and a couple new email programs, and it's seriously annoying. Tiny words in rows and ranks, with tiny cryptic symbols, boxes and boxes and lines of them, which when clicked will bring up more lists of tiny words, all of which mean something, if you know what they mean. The web is an explosion in a graphics factory, and I'm not speaking metaphorically.

In between trying to get my LiveJournal working, I've been mixing paints. No words. Painting lots of color swatches of every possible combination of acrylic paint that I have on hand with cobalt blue. Hansa and cadmium yellows, lemon, alizarin. Then I rub the leftover colors into tyvek (the plain side of shipping envelopes) to get beautiful fields of color, the pale fibers swirling through, like japanese papers.
