I'm the lai, with no sort
Of grave, solemn thought,
And I
Will never be caught
By miseries sought,
Nor sigh;
Where battles are fought
Or arguments brought,
I fly.
What Poetry Form Are You?

Yeah, it's been a while. I've been out. Did I mention the Art Fair on the Square? Then driving across Indiana, and into the wilds of Ohio. The international calligraphy conference for a week, where I wrote on lots of people again (took classes working on Don't Think design, and thoroughly thought out design). Then came back and went to the American Players Theatre (Pygmalion). Study group with local artists (review design and mixed media). The State Fair. APT again last night (The Cherry Orchard). Busy busy busy. Wrote two apazines too. Next it's more study group (gilding, and brush lettering), pickanick with the parks staff which is usually a fine drunken brawl, a quick trip to the Chicago suburbs for a birthday party, more APT (Hamlet). Next week, I'm afraid to look.

Browsing through some recent conversations here, I thought you all would appreciate these instructions (from my bro's Japanese ladyfriend, Azusa) on How To Write Haiku.

Step 1. Learn Japanese.
Step 2. Learn special traditional language, terms, words, associations, and entire system of Japanese references in haiku poetry.
Step 3. Read lots of haiku.
Step 4. Have moment of enlightenment.
Step 5. Write haiku.
