Wednesday is my day off. Tuesday afternoons I have ceramics class, which wipes me out, all that standing and walking around, and cleaning mud off the walls and tables. On Mondays and Thursdays I have a workout, which is sometimes about all I can do in a day. Which leaves Wednesday a very miscellaneous kind of day. Today there was some shopping, and some errands. Stopped by Marcia's. Read quite a bit of Robin McKinley's Deerskin which I am greatly enjoying. Made a roast beast for dinner. Worked a bit on an apa cover that is surely the most time-consuming one I have yet done (and that's two this week, I mailed off another yesterday). Finished putting stamps on a big set of postcards for art fair publicity, which had consumed far more time last week just getting labels printed out and lined up properly (half of them are just paper that I sellotaped on after giving up on getting the software to line up correctly for the printer).

But I got some thinking done too. Thinking about London, and Canterbury, and exactly what I want to do the week after Novacon. In ceramics I got a number of projects out of the kiln, and one in particular I need to do over again, a platter that came out with a very nice surface design but kind of twisted kittywhompus because I didn't handle it carefully. Next week we are doing a raku firing.

Best idea for a new project is that I need to make some pie plates: I am always taking my pyrex ones places with pies in them and leaving them. No raised relief design, too hard to clean, maybe some sgraffito, or stencilling, or direct painting. What design would you want to see on the bottom of a pieplate after you ate the pie?

Often I don't think out my projects very much in advance, as it takes all the fun out of actually executing them. I have far too many projects lying around that have been designed to death and all the life drained away, so if I am going to do anything with them then it has to be Something Completely Different. Finishing things is a problem for me. But I have confidence that some time soon a whole lot of things that have been started will get finished.

This is not quite what I would want to read in an LJ entry. I have been thinking about what that might be.
