jaeleslie at 01:49pm on 16/02/2004Went to the doctor last week, they took blood out of me for tests, yadda yadda, bone scan in a couple weeks. The health thing is boring at best, and more significantly not a good focus here where I want to talk about what is fun. Fatigue not fun. (I am a little grumpy that I'm not able to go to Potlatch this year.) No doubt I'll let you know when there is further information.
Now that I've finally worked out how to get good results with the frostpainting, the sun is higher which makes it too warm in the afternoon -- the solar gain on the south side of the house is nearly fifteen degrees. So this is really the last batch of papers I am going to get frosted this year, although they are turning out pretty nice, colorful and plenty of pattern in them, but I have to put them on the cold shady garage floor in the afternoon until they dry completely. I went through the stack I had already and sorted them out a bit (finding the good bits) and found a couple that wanted particular texts ("Over the Hills and Far Away"). Since my drawing table is still actually cleared off they are coming along fine. The layouts came easily. I have to remember to work more with these things that come easily and not abandon them to struggle with things that aren't working.
On the other big table I had all these collage bits and assorted materials spread out, and had cut some boards to standard sizes. So I put some things away, and then started putting some gold and silver leaf on these little boards, and some gesso, three different kinds, and black gesso too. Need more color.
But I like the arrangement with the separate drawing table for lettering, and the big table for gluing and collaging etc because that takes up so much room: when I try to do that on the drawing table too it takes over for days and weeks on end and nothing else can happen. While things are drying here I can go think about something else there. And most important, not have to put everything away in between. The best of both worlds.
