An odd thing Mr S heard from one of the entomologists yesterday at the prairie burn: they have a stretch of rehabilitated prairie next to a prairie remnant where the established butterflies won't cross the fenceline. The plant species and groupings on each side of the fence appear to be the same. No apparent difference in the habitats. Just the fence.
