Been writing a bit of email lately. I guess it was just last week I wrote another apazine, but it seems forever. I obsess about various discussions, then go away and do something else for a bit and see if it is still going on there when I get back.
The old friend WINOLJ who wrote to me that I am a conversationalist and correspondent to rival Mme de Stael obviously understands the uses and deployment of egoboo, even if the word would be strange to her, and her prize is, she gets more email. (Maybe even when I visit again she will hit the jackpot with this fine, er, abstract painting. Por que es tan dura, la dulzura del corazon de la cereza? Oh I guess you can't read that from there. Well I can hardly read it from here either actually.)
This morning when I was still caffeine deprived I got a notice from Victor WINOLJ to go look at his new empire, Trufen.net, so I did. It seems to an end-user-type like me to combine some features of LiveJournal and of Trufen, and not too much fiddly new stuff to learn. (I am still a teensy bit nostalgic for the first year or so there on Trufen before all the oldpharts moved in from Memory Hole and I could still get a word in edgewise and have a virtual conversation.) There is a nice report on the Nebulas from Jack Bell, with a link to Cory Doctorow's very interesting website, and his work which gets right at some of the copyright issues that particularly trouble me in the modern publishing scene. And then a discussion of the Hugo nominations. We will be very good and stay On Topic so as to fool anyone who might be inclined to wonder where the science fiction in SF went. It does make good small talk for the trufen (although I am not sure about the truffs, them too I think). I am trying to decide whether to put out a link there to my LJ.
For some reason I hadn't looked in on rec.arts.sf.fandom since I got rid of the Aol service. So I went and looked again, and remembered why I hadn't been back.
redbird, I hope you get lots of praise and prizes for keeping up the FAQ! good work!
